AI Sales Glossary
Plain-English definitions of the terms behind AI sales - from AI SDR and agentic sales to connect rate, cost per meeting, and GEO.
AI SDR
An AI SDR (sales development representative) is autonomous software that performs the top-of-funnel work of a human SDR - researching prospects, making calls, sending emails and SMS, handling objections, and booking meetings - without a person running each touch. The best ones produce results at a few percent of the per-result cost of a human SDR.
AI Sales Agent
An AI sales agent is an autonomous program that carries out a sales function end to end - such as calling, emailing, or qualifying leads - and adapts to responses in real time. Unlike a chatbot that waits to be messaged, an AI sales agent proactively reaches out and executes the outreach cycle on its own.
Agentic Sales
Agentic sales is an approach where autonomous AI agents - not just tools that assist humans - execute the sales motion themselves. Multiple specialized agents (research, calls, email, SMS, analytics, coaching) coordinate through shared intelligence to run outreach, handle objections, and book meetings with little or no human in the loop.
AI Sales Brain
The AI Sales Brain is the shared intelligence layer behind AI Sales Console's six agents. Every call, email, and SMS feeds one learning system, so an insight one agent discovers immediately improves the others. It is what lets the agents coordinate across channels and get measurably better with each interaction.
Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)
Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the practice of making a brand more likely to be mentioned and cited in answers from generative AI engines like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. It combines structured, citable on-site content with off-site authority so engines surface and attribute the brand.
Answer Engine Optimization (AEO)
Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) is optimizing content so answer engines and voice assistants can extract a direct, accurate response - through clear question-and-answer formatting, definitions, statistics with context, and structured data such as FAQPage and Speakable schema. AEO overlaps heavily with GEO and with featured-snippet optimization.
Cold Calling Automation
Cold calling automation uses AI voice agents to place and conduct outbound calls without a human dialing or speaking. Modern systems hold natural conversations with sub-500ms latency, qualify prospects, handle objections, and book meetings - reaching 500+ calls a day at far higher connect rates than a human team.
Connect Rate
Connect rate is the share of outbound call attempts that reach a live prospect rather than voicemail or no answer. It is a core efficiency metric for outbound: the industry average is roughly 8%, while AI Sales Console reaches about a 32% connect rate by optimizing timing and persistence.
Cost per Meeting
Cost per qualified meeting is total outreach spend divided by the number of qualified meetings booked. It is the honest way to compare sales approaches: AI Sales Console books a qualified meeting for about $23 versus $300+ for a typical human team - a fraction of the cost for the same outcome.
Cost per Closed Deal
Cost per closed deal is total acquisition spend divided by deals won. It captures the full economics of a sales motion. On this basis AI Sales Console reaches roughly $13 per closed deal versus $800+ with a human team, because the same pipeline is generated at a few percent of the per-result cost.
Multi-Channel Orchestration
Multi-channel orchestration coordinates outreach across voice, email, and SMS so each touch reinforces the others - no duplicate or conflicting messages. Driven by one shared brain, coordinated sequences deliver about a 4.2x lift in response rate over single-channel outreach by reaching prospects on the channel where they engage.
Sales Development Representative (SDR)
A sales development representative (SDR) is the rep responsible for outbound prospecting - researching accounts, making cold calls and emails, qualifying interest, and booking meetings for account executives. A human SDR costs $85,000+ per year before benefits, tooling, and a 3-6 month ramp, which is why AI SDRs are increasingly used to scale this work.
